Why is the screen blank after inserting a test strip?

What does it mean when the display is blank after I inserted a test strip?

Display remains blank after the test strip has been inserted into the glucometer Battery power is too low for use Charge the battery
Too much time has passed between inserting test strip and performing the test Reinsert the test strip into the meter
Test strip has not been fully inserted into the meter Reinsert the test strip into the meter, pressing firmly
